Beloit Mindset List

Have you ever wondered how the world has changed around us from the past years? The Beloit mindset list tells you how everything has changed for us and what we find normal that older people do not.  This list is a great example of the things we see and do on a daily basis that older folks would not have a clue what were doing or what it is.
My first example is the foreign cars. We, soon to come 2014 graduates, see foreign cars on a dialy basis. I actually drive a foreign car and when I go to family dinners or when I went to a game in high school, half the parents actually asked me what brand of car it was. I was surprised by how many older folks did not know what brand of car it was. It showed me that there have been changes for us.
My second example would be the cell phones. Every kid today has a cell phone, and if they lose it, they feel they have lost everything. A few years ago no body had cell phones. Only the rich people that wanted to be cool. Now cell phones are cheap and that is the main communication between people. I can't immagine how people got through the day without checking a phone for texts or even time. I haven't actually used a wall clock or alarm clock since I got a cell phone. I check everything on my cell phone.
My third example would have to be about Snoop Dogg always being a rapper. I listen to rap music and the only Snoop Dogd I know of has been a rapper. So im not sure where they were going with this one, but I know Snoop spits his rhymes and it sounds awesome. So yes Snoop Dogg has always been a rapper to me, a great one.
My last example would have to be the T.V. channels one. All i know is that I have had like hundreds of channels to watch and can never find one I like. I know in the old days they didn't have T.V., but if they did it was only around 4 channels. It sounds bad that we have hundreds of channels and still can not find something to watch.
I think you get the point that we as the graduating class of 2014 have lots of opportunities that the older folkds did not. It sounds like were spoiled but new technowledgy is coming out and everyone gets it. I hope everyone realizes what im getting across to them. It is that new generations are coming soon and everything is different.

  1. I have to agree with The Chad that now a days we have hundreds of channels to watch. It wasn't always like that, but recent innovations have allowed us to be even more bored. But I also have to point out that Snoop Dogg doesn't seem like much of a rapper these days. I have noticed that he is getting into the movie business a lot and that he is starting to sell merchandise too.

  2. I like how you gave an opportunistic view of this list. It is a good example that we have many awesome things and a lot of information that older people do not. And yes, Snoop Dog has always been a rapper to me as well.

  3. I agree with all of your points. The list does somewhat make us look like a spoiled generation, but we can't help it that we've been provided with the opportunities and technology that we have been. And I agree... What was Snoop Dogg before a rapper? I have no idea...

  5. Once again The Chad has said all that needs to be said... I really like how you said that Snoop Dog spits his rhymes and you liked them, I would not take you for a rap music liker, but I guess The Chad will always surprise us.

  6. I agree with you point about how the class of 2014 has had the opportunity to use and experience technology in a way previous generations never would have though possible. Although technology is used in our everyday lives, we can not become completely dependent on it, and let it control our lives. We can't let the negative effects of technology outweight the benefits and its positive influence on today's society.

  7. I like that you take a positive approach to how we have things past generations did not. It may seem that we are spoiled, (and to an extent, we are) but generations change. Change can help the future generations to be better off.

  8. Very well organized and thought out. I like how you linked us to the past generations even only to point out that we are different from them, but at least it shows that we still remember the pas generation, because the mindset seems to do the opposite to me.

  9. i definitely agree with you on the cell phone subject. and i know exactly how you feel about the car. i have a foreign car as well and get the same reaction. it really opened my eyes too.

  10. I can't believe people back home didn't know what your car was - you'd think with all of the dissatisfaction with the GM dealer that more would by driving the foreign cars. Great blog post!

  11. I highly agree that cell phones are a must have now a day. I personally don't know what I would do without mine, and they are so disposable that if we break it or lose it we can have a new one by the end of the week....which is probably a bad thing.

  12. Everything is changing. Technology being its leader. I agree with your post! It was nice to read something that didnt involve cursive and watches. Im glad you found points other than the ones the rest of us had!
