I had heard of twitter before but was not exactly sure of what you did on there or what it was even for. I thought you just updated what you were doing all the time so everyone that wants to know can see. What I did not know is how many people actually have twitter and use it. The assignment was to create a twitter account and use it for a week. This is my experience with twitter.
The first time I logged on the twitter website was the night before it was due. Guess what, the website was down. So I thought to myself and said I would do it in the morning. I logged on the next morning and it worked fine. I did not expect twitter to be so confusing at first. I was sopposed to add everyone in my section and this other list of things. I was so confused. It took WAY longer than I thought and I barely finished it before class on monday night :) . Anyway I found just jumping into twitter for the first time was kind of confusing. I have figured it out now and I can see why I would want to keep my account. There are many people on twitter and people you know, so it is interesting to see what there doing. Also you can get updates from the news or pretty much any company you like. I also like the fact that you can tweet a comment to someone directly. So there can be conversations on there which is cool. My twitter link is http://twitter.com/#!/ChadStarlin, and feel free to comment and throw some tweets at me.
All around I found the assignment to be fun! I like just jumping into something new and trying to figure it out. Yeah I got frustrated at times only because I did not know what I was doing!! If you spend enough time with it though you will get it figured out. I suggest everyone should try twitter, but maybe have a little help around incase you do mess up setting up an account. The last thing I like and think people should try twitter is that you can actually find jobs. Many companies can be searched on twitter and looked up which is nice. I found this on the readings (http://www.sysomos.com/insidetwitter/sixdegrees/). So twitter can be a very good positive website that I suggest everyone should try and see how they like it. Even if you get very confused and frstrated at first. It was a fun experiece overall though and I now enjoy it.

Diversity event!!!!!!!
I went to the diversity even called A Business for Diversity! It was pretty much the last one we could attend and thats why I went so late. It was cool though. It was not about the human race, but about how there can be diversity between a group of smart people that think the same and a group of not as smart people that think different.
They took a group of smart people, ( by IQ scores) and group of not as smart people, and made these groups solve a problem. This is what got me. By statistics the not as smart group did a better job solving the problem. I honestly never thought of the reason behind this. The smart group tends to have the same thoughts and think the same. This is why they can not get as much accomplished because no one has new Ideas, they just tend to think the same. The not as smart group has many different ideas and thinks outside the box. Which obviously got them to solve the problem faster and better than the smart group. I was shocked by the statistics that showed almost every time they did this expirement the not as smart group always be the smart group.
This event opened my eyes to how diversity can not only be race, but many other things as well. It was very interesting and I enjoyed going. It makes you think of real life situations and how to think outside the box.

At my best
There have been plenty of times I have succeeded in life. Such as sports, academics, and when taking a leadership position. I mean everyone succeeds and some point in there life, but there is always that one time you that you feel you did your best or were at you best when you succeeded.
I felt I was at my best during my senior year around track season. There are a couple reasons I think I was at my best. The first reason is because I was doing great with all of my school work. I was getting good grades, having great time managment with track and academics, and doing great on all of my tests. Getting good grades is huge part of succeeding.
The second reason I feel I was at my best was because I was in doing great in track. Track is an individual sport and I was in my best shape. The exact night I feel I was at my best was districts for track. The night started off with my first race, shuttle hurdle relay. My team and I did great and ended up going to state for that race. Then I had my highschool graduation that same night. So I had to drive to my highschool and get my diploma. Then had to drive back to the track meet and run my second race, the 400 meter hurdles. I did good and went to state for that also. I ran track for a different school thats why I had to drive to my highschool the same night as the track meet.
Those reasons are why I feel I was at my best. I got my diploma, which means I graduated high school, and still made it to state in two track events that night. One before I graduated and one after I graduated. It was a crazy night but I feel I was at my best for graduation and track.

Beloit Mindset List
Have you ever wondered how the world has changed around us from the past years? The Beloit mindset list tells you how everything has changed for us and what we find normal that older people do not. This list is a great example of the things we see and do on a daily basis that older folks would not have a clue what were doing or what it is.
My first example is the foreign cars. We, soon to come 2014 graduates, see foreign cars on a dialy basis. I actually drive a foreign car and when I go to family dinners or when I went to a game in high school, half the parents actually asked me what brand of car it was. I was surprised by how many older folks did not know what brand of car it was. It showed me that there have been changes for us.
My second example would be the cell phones. Every kid today has a cell phone, and if they lose it, they feel they have lost everything. A few years ago no body had cell phones. Only the rich people that wanted to be cool. Now cell phones are cheap and that is the main communication between people. I can't immagine how people got through the day without checking a phone for texts or even time. I haven't actually used a wall clock or alarm clock since I got a cell phone. I check everything on my cell phone.
My third example would have to be about Snoop Dogg always being a rapper. I listen to rap music and the only Snoop Dogd I know of has been a rapper. So im not sure where they were going with this one, but I know Snoop spits his rhymes and it sounds awesome. So yes Snoop Dogg has always been a rapper to me, a great one.
My last example would have to be the T.V. channels one. All i know is that I have had like hundreds of channels to watch and can never find one I like. I know in the old days they didn't have T.V., but if they did it was only around 4 channels. It sounds bad that we have hundreds of channels and still can not find something to watch.
I think you get the point that we as the graduating class of 2014 have lots of opportunities that the older folkds did not. It sounds like were spoiled but new technowledgy is coming out and everyone gets it. I hope everyone realizes what im getting across to them. It is that new generations are coming soon and everything is different.
